Our design refers to the urban development of the surrounding buildings as well as to the planned high-rise buildings of the district at Postbahnhof and Mühlenstraße.
A new hotel and residential building ensemble is to be built in one of the most attractive Berlin inner city locations, immediately on the North Bank of the river Spree, between Schillingbrücke and Oberbaumbrücke and adjacent to the famous East Side Gallery.
Hotel
The hotel building (162 rooms and 92 suites) parallel to the Stralauer Platz assumes a prominent role in the newly designed building complex. Playful changing window elements and the backlit frosted glass band result in a varied façade.
At the East Side Park, an attractive new town square is created with an outside Café associated with the hotel. The recessed plaza maintains a respectful distance to the historic hinterland wall, wraps them at the same time and allows the hotel guests exclusive prospect.
The reception and breakfast area, café and a bar are located in the spacious ground floor area.
Residential
Two 8-story building blocks running down to the river Spree as well as a partly attached 12-story tower standing across it, are planned as residential buildings. Together, they offer space for 305 apartments. In between is a large, green living garden. Generously arranged trees, magnolias, bushes and lawns between the two buildings create a private area with high recreation quality. The outdoor areas are delineated from the waterfront by ground leaps. From each apartment one can look directly on the water or in the park.
Laterally offset windows determine the design, however the flat façade of the hotel receives a different shape than the houses. All windows of the building Ensemble "stand" on balcony- or loggia plates or on window sills. This basic concept is related, but varies lively on the location and function of the facade.
